The minimum wage, overtime, and wage-theft protections on the rights page apply to every worker on the East End regardless of where you are from or your status. The NY Department of Labor publishes its complaint forms and guides in many languages — including Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, and Haitian Creole — and the wage-theft hotline (1-888-469-7365) takes calls with interpreters.
Low-cost immigration legal services (green cards, citizenship, work authorization, family petitions) for immigrants of every nationality and faith, including refugee resettlement support for Ukrainian newcomers.
East End libraries run free ESL conversation groups and classes open to speakers of any language — no card, no documents, no fee at most branches. The libraries page lists every branch with hours; educación covers GED and citizenship prep.
Riverhead's historic Polish Town district (around Pulaski Street) is the center of Polish life on the East End — St. Isidore's parish with Polish-language mass, Polish delis and bakeries, and the Polish Town street fair each summer.
